It couldn't really have been much wetter for Dan and Holly's big day at the lovely Underley Grange just outside Kirkby Lonsdale. It mattered not, though...and as I always say, one of the benefits of a wet day is that it means everyone groups together in the same place, giving a great atmosphere.

Preparations took place inside the grand 14th Century Victorian house, which has been refurbished to create brilliant self catering accommodation - perfect for extending the wedding preparation and celebration for a good few days either side.

With a large number of guests, the couple opted for a gazebo extension on the front of the property, which allowed the overflow of friends to stay sheltered during the ceremony.

Celebrations continued in the gardens, where a beautifully decorated marquee provided all the creature comforts, and then there was the addition of quite simply the most pimped up portaloos I've ever seen - they even had flat screen TVs!

The extensive land at Underley Grange offers some great options for portraits. We braved a trip to the bridge, but were limited to shooting underneath the arches due to the downpour!

There's no escaping the fact that very wet weddings are a challenge for the photographer. Locations become limited and lighting can be difficult. If you're booking a photographer for your big day, it's a good idea to ask to see some examples of wet weather work - after all it's the one thing you really can't plan!
