Winter weddings can be quite a scary prospect for a photographer. There are limited daylight hours, cold winds can cause red noses and streaming eyes, fingers go numb, kids and bridesmaids get cold quickly . . . the thought of it can be a bit daunting.
But then, all of a sudden, your faith is restored, when you find yourself in the midst of a happy, beautiful, winter wonderland. A place where muted colours seem so classy after the brights of summer, where fairy lights twinkle, and glittery trinkets look like they finally found where they were supposed to be all along.
And that's how it was at Frank and Sarah's wedding. It just wouldn't have worked quite as well at any other time of the year.
It's impossible to shoot a wedding at
The Plough, Lupton, and not get an extreme case of wedding guest envy. I have lots of "favourite" venues, but there's something about this timeless country inn that makes me just want to kick off my shoes, get a large glass of wine and join in the celebrations.
Now, this is supposed to be a photo blog, so I should probably stop filling it up with words, but there are a few other suppliers I need to mention, who played a huge role in the day . . . here are some of the supporting crew:
The CAKE - quite simply THE most amazing "homemade" wedding cake I've ever seen . . . but then Sarah IS a professional - check out her company
Love Birds Bakery
Typical Type - for their breathtaking illuminated BIG LOVE and BIG HEART - a massive hit with guests (and photographers!) they are a real talking point and quite simply they are an innovative company do what they do far better than anyone else
Miniature deserts - served in vintage seedling trays - I fuelled up on a few of these while no one was looking and they were amazing - supplied by
The Bakery at No.4
Bouquet - by the lovely
Carmen, who never gets a single petal wrong (all the other gorgeous flowers were by Sarah and her bridesmaids)
Gospel Choir - WOW WOW WOW. I want these people to come and live at my house, they were out of this world -
Gospel Choir 4 Weddings
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs.Ofonagoro, I absolutely loved your wedding in every way :)
PS - can you spot the one, tiny, single thing that didn't go quite to plan? It IS easy to forget things when you're in a hurry . . . sorry Sarah, but I do like a quiz ;)
